Nordic Djinn

Experience Level: Beginner+

Genetics:

Males- Males tend to have long hair that is braided down their back. Normally having darker hair of brown, black and the occasional blonde/ dirty blonde hair. They tend to wear hair of knots or trees representing Yggdrasil. They tend to have some sort of facial hair, with the older generation wearing their facial hair longer and adorned with charms carved by their own hands. The male Nordic Djinn tend to wear leather hides that they hunted and crafted themselves with fur lining to keep them warm. They tend to have lighter color eyes with light blue and green being the normal colors. While darker eye colors are seen they are rare. Males tend to have a "starter" knife on their person. This is the first knife that they crafted and is seen as a good luck knife that will give safe travels. Males tend to be 5'7" at their shortest and 6'10" at their tallest.

Females- Females tend to have longer hair with one or two braids down the sides of their face. Their hair is adorned with gold or silver charms or "wraps" around their braids. These charms mean something, from showing their marital status: Gold being married or engaged, Silver being single, or rarely Bronze being choosing not to marry. Females tend to have their made for them, getting them from their parents. Females tend to have more fur covered clothing with leather accents. Their furs are rarely self caught, but they do receive furs from their family and sew their own clothing. Females tend to have lighter hair colors from blonde to platinum with the occasional brunette. The tend to have darker shades of eye color, with dark blue, green, and honey being the most common. Females tend to have a pendant given to them at birth for happiness, health, safe travels and potential pregnancies. Females tend to be 5'3" at their shortest and 6'1" at their tallest.

Both- Males and Females both tend to wear jewelry given by their parents. Normally a bracelet that has their family insignia on it. They both to have some sort of on them, in fact it's rarer for them to not have tattoos. Both Nordic Djinn tend to be given a ring when they come of age. This ring is given from their parents and is blessed by Odin, Frigga or Freya for health and love. This is worn on their right hand and is Enchanted to change sizes as they do. While both tend to have long hair, they have various charms that are given or bought along their life. They choose Enchanted with new enchantments but tend to stick to one's for health and abundance.

Temperament & Manifestations: Nordic Djinn are a very resilient species with a very studious attitude. While out and about there is really only one side you will see, which is "work mode". in this mode they are very observant and very reserved. this allows them to focus and make sure everything is safe and sound. in this mode they are calm and collected, not easy to anger, not that they are normally, instead they are sure to see everything for what it is and not what might be. it allows them to prepare themselves for everything that could come their way. This also allows them to have a rational mind, since they do not act before thinking. They are able to analyze all components before making a move. their moves are so calculated they can, and will, recount all of their thoughts to get to the outcome.

When manifesting more subtly Nordic Djinn still bring a protective aura about them. From letting out the breath you didn't realize you were holding in, to feeling a protective presence behind you. Nordic Djinn have a denser energy about them showing their energy and flexing it to intimidate those who mean them or their family harm. Their manifestations also are akin to feeling a cold rush of air around your shoulders and top of head. in more subtle manifestations they appear in orbs of a variety of color and sizes. Normally the orbs will be cold to the touch and be darker in color. they can also manifest in tall shadows that hover near the doors or windows. they can manifest in little ways like chuckles, tapping, hums, speaking or singing in their native tongue.

Society:

Higher Power- Nordic Djinn worship the nordic pantheon, with Odin being their All Father. While not all Nordic Djinn worship Odin, most of them do. They also work with the other Nordic Deities like Loki, Hel, Freyja and Frigga to name a few. When they work with their chosen Deity they receive a blessing from them for whatever they would like. Their deity will bless either them or an item of theirs. Nordic Djinn take pride in working for their chosen Deity. These jobs can be from helping their loyal followers or even helping to protect people the deity wishes. Most Nordic Djinn have an altar dedicated to their Deity in their homes with some carrying a small portable altar when they travel far. 

Cleansing- Nordic Djinn constantly cleanse their homes and spaces to rid it of negativity. this can be a simple cleanse with smoke or a full ritual depending on whether or not it is needed. they cleanse new places they will be staying in. This allows them to stay in a healthy, happy, location and not feel bogged down by negativity. If needed they will call upon their deity to help cleanse their space. If they are unable to use smoke to cleanse their space they will pray to their deity to do a gentle cleanse of their space. While Nordic Djinn are not cleansing "freaks" they do take pride in keeping their space and families space cleansed. this allows them to grant wishes easier by allowing them to do a gently cleanse over a deep one before wish granting. you can expect them to cleanse their space at least once a week.

Body Modification- Both males and females take part in body modification like tattoos and piercings. For them it as seen as beauty and trials they have gone through. you wont see regretful tattoos as all tattoos are thought through and no Nordic Djinn Artist will tattoo spontaneous tattoos. most tattoos are a spiritual journey for Nordic Djinn, highlighting the challenges and overcoming them or showing respect to their deity. These tattoos are also permanent. Nordic Djinn do not belive in tattoo removal and so they take pride in crafting the perfect tattoo. When it comes to piercings, Nordic Djinn tend to adorn their ears, nose and lower lip with piercings. Women tend to adorn their lip more then men but it is a tie when it comes to ears and now. the most common nose piercing is at the bridge of the nose which is seen as a sign of giving yourself to a deity completely. Where a septum piercing is seen as just beginning your journey with deities, You will see older, far older, Nordic Djinn with the bridge piercing before you will see someone young with it. Their ears range from simple studs to gauges with dainty chains leading from one piercing to another.

Mating Habits: Nordic Djinn are courters by nature. they make their beloved a pendant or bracelet as a sign of beginning courting. If accepted the recipient has a month to make something in return. if they don't, the courting is off as it is seen as them not treating the courting seriously. While courting Nordic Djinn are able to get a home together and live as spouses to see if they are compatible. While courting can be called off by either party by giving the courting present back, for any reason, it is encouraged to talk problems through. While you have the courting gift you are not supposed to take it off as a sign of respect to the other party. If Marriage is on the table it is traditional to make the engagement and wedding rings for you and your to be spouse, but you can only go from the courting phase to the marry phase after you have courted for three years. This  allows you to really learn about your partner. When getting married, every stitch of clothing is handmade by the one wearing it allowing the spouses to take their time making their attire this shows patience and the willingness to do what is needed for the one they are marrying. it is also traditional for both parents to take care of the rest o the items. if one set of parents passed there is usually a nest egg left for the child that they can't touch until they are married.

Companionship: In companionship Nordic Djinn will be protectors of the family they are adopted into. this is their nature and they do it rather well. They will follow rules as they are well disciplined and would rather stand back and let their companion handle problems, unless given permission to do so, then they get in the middle of issues. Nordic Djinn are loyal and bond to their companion for life unless there is a circumstance that changes that. One of the Norse Gods will severe this connection, but all requirements would have to be met to do so. Nordic Djinn do not have multiple connections they work with at a time. if they choose you there is a good reason as to why they did. Nordic Djinn believe in hard work and will expect their companions to do the same. you cannot demand something without having the knowledge of what happens next. but once you learn, you will begin to have the spoils of your wish as far as they can grant. At home, Nordic Djinn loosen up and enjoy their time around their family, but i public you will find your Nordic Djinn are much more rigid and serious. This is their professional side and they showcase this side while in public so they can maintain their logical side. Overall Nordic Djinn are loyal, trustworthy and always have the back of their companion.
